Anastianna got up in front of the assembly. She had been chosen the speak at this meeting because of her advanced knowledge of the old texts. As an Embari, she'd studied so many of the old texts and parchments, that her head often spun with their words and names. And today they'd get a bit of a release. She looked down beside her. There lied her faithful Familiar, waiting for all the people to file in. And she had Nakitoro to help her, in case she forgot an important part.
"Good people of the Alliance." She took a deep breath, public speaking never one of her fortes. "We're here today to try and make clear the histories of some very important people." She looked out into the crowd and saw many people she knew. Some of her students were there, from her Embari Domain, while a few members of the High Council stood among the mass of people.
"There is often a lot of confusion as to the not too distant history of our founding fathers and mothers." She thought for a second, trying to remember all there names. That was when Nakitoro chose to enter.
"We can look at each with admiration and love, since they are the people who helped make us what we are today," Nakitoro interjected, standing up from his relaxed position.
Anastianna looked down at him, comforted that she had someone to share the limelight with. She continued:
"As we all know, there are four Orders in the Alliance of the Crowns, and therefore four founders." She took out of her robes four tiny statues, replicas of real sized one at each of the Founder's plaques.
"We have Svahiac Lord Gleemox Torn, Embari Master Sara Vakaris, Von Lord Marcas Leviathun, and our very own, High Councilor Cordan Grey." At this she gave a short bow to the Councilor, who was clearly visible in the second row. He smiled back graciously.
"Our first, and probably the least well known, which is why I start with him, is Svahiac Lord Gleemox Torn. He was the first of the Svahiac Order to receive his freedom from their creators. And he fought endlessly, in a structured meeting way mind you, with the High Council to grant all others the freedom that he now enjoyed. And after two years, he finally convinced them. The benefits and freedoms outweighed the possible threats, and each Svahiac was freed from the slavery they were built to endure." While she was telling this story, she could see many of the Svahiac in the audience holding their hands to their hearts. Or rather, heart area. She had never really seen the structure of a Svahiac so she didn't know how they were different. "And we thank Lord Torn for everything he did, since the Svahiac Order has proven a valuable and necessary asset in our fight," Nakitoro continued for her. He knew she was lost in thought. They were well connected after all.
"Now we will move on to a woman close to my own heart, Embari Master Sara Vakaris," Anastianna continued. She thought for two seconds of her story, then continued.
"Master Vakaris had been a traveling mage and wise woman long before she came to the Alliance gates. She's been enslaved by the barbarians in her home town, but with her advanced magic, had managed to escape, just in the nick of time too. Later that week, she found out, they'd killed all the rest of the mages." She bowed her head for a brief second in memory of the lost people they hadn't been able to save.
"And knowing that this was a place of power, she came to us first," Nakitoro continued for her, "she met up with the good Councilors at the half constructed gates and displayed her powers. They were impressed by this, and decided they could help her, for she seeked shelter and food after her long journey."
Anastianna continued: "But when she got inside, she noticed something that bothered her. The fortress was protected by walls and men only, no powerful spells had been put to protect the, at that time, low number of people in the Alliance." Nakitoro and Anastianna looked at each other, both of them remembering the best part of the story.
"So she took to her room, where she wrote out, on parchment, and entire plan for placing magical protections and barriers all around the Grounds. She also drew up the very first ideas for the Embari Order and teachings. And over the last ten years of her life, she had all the barriers set up, including different nodes from which to draw power, and the beginning students of an Order soon to be second only to the mages of the south." The Embari in the audience cheered and she cheered with them on the inside, her face remaining amused but calm.
"Yes yes, settle down now," Nakitoro gave the crowd a stern look, and most of the people quieted down.
"Now, the third person of honour I must discuss is Von Lord Marcas Leviathun, who was credited for the creation and mastering of the Von Guard Order." Anastianna knew less about him then the other two, but she would explain the best she could.
