"Where are we?"
"I don't know."
"Are we still on the Grounds?"
"I think so, I'm not sure. It doesn't look like the Grounds."
"But it feels like them."
And of magic, Jason thought.
Jason had never been to a place like this before. It was strange, like a memory he had from a long time ago, but couldn't remember it very well.
"All I remember is stumbling into a room I'd never seen before, then all of a sudden we were here."
Vakati'duulo turned to look at Jason from a cross the empty white space.
"I've heard from the Councilors that rooms like this existed, but however much I looked I could never find one."
Jason nodded, he too had heard the rumours of magical rooms.
Jason remembered first coming to the Alliance, hearing all about these wondrous new experiences he'd be having and skills he'd be learning.
Suddenly, the room around them swam, colours appearing and changing until they stuck. Slowly, a scene appeared before them. They were standing at the gates.
"How'd we get out here?" Vakati'duulo questioned. Jason shrugged, staring around. It looked like the outside. He smelled the air. Smelled like it too. He felt the dirt beneath their feet, heard the sounds of the trees swaying nearby. It was all real.
But something wasn't right.
Jason and Vakati'duulo both turned to stare at the gate. It was rusted and old, and only one guard stood idly beside it, making shapes in the ground with his spear. Jason didn't recognize him by name, but felt that he'd seen him somewhere before.
"Hey, where is this place?" Jason yelled to the guard. No answer. He didn't even raise his head.
Jason walked over to him, his commander visage and tone taking over his face.
"Soldier, I asked you a question." Still no answer. Jason, frustrated now, moved to put his hand on the guards shoulder.
But he passed right through.
Jason stepped back in fear and surprise, staring at his hand in disbelief.
Vakati'duulo looked at him questioningly, and moved his tail towards the wall. He smashed it through the wall with a loud swoosh through the air. Nothing. His tail passed right through.
"How wondrous," Vakati'duulo said, but Jason didn't think so. It was strange, and a little bit frightening. Had they become ghosts? Had they died? That didn't seem very logical.
Suddenly, the guard looked up, walking forward. Jason stepped aside as the guard walked forward towards something.
"You can't be here boy, leave now." Jason turned to look.
"I heard all were welcome here..." Jason looked in shock and awe at...well, he couldn't even comprehend it. He was staring at himself as a boy. But how was that possible?
Suddenly, the room went black, and Jason and Vakati'duulo were in the white room again.
And Councilor Grey was standing before them.
