Jason:
Jason strutted into the hall, followed closely by Vakati'duulo, who ducked to enter the huge hall. Shield and spear strapped to his back, Jason gave a short bow and continued on. He looked around, picking out the statues of the various heroes that he knew who live and lived in the Alliance. Above him hanging proud were the flags of the families, all colours and sizes. "There are so many families here, who knew," Jason said as he walked, staring up in awe.
"Master Jason, there he is." Jason looked down from the beautiful flags and saw who he seeked. He stopped, taking in the view of his old master. Short grey hair with a long beard, only about 5 and a half feet tall, the remnants of a soldier long weathered by struggle. He didn't look like much, but Jason knew better then to believe appearances as reality. He walked up behind the Councilor, remaining a few steps away, and bowed. "Good afternoon Councilor Grey".
Grey:
Councilor Grey turned to see his young friend behind him.
"Good afternoon Jason, how are you today?" He didn't wait for a reply however as he bid Jason come closer. The Von Guard Elite thanked him as he stepped forward.
"Have the men been training well? Have you any news of the latest raids?" Grey was full of questions today and rather flustered. He didn't have a lot of time to talk with old friends sadly. 'Never enough time to do anything you want to do anymore,' he thought to himself. Nashiro must've heard him, because he nodded in agreement.
"I apologize my friend, I am a little flustered today with the children of my class. They were not the most behaved of the bunch." He gave a laugh, a deep full hearted laugh. "But we know all about naughty children don't we?" He gave a sly smile in Jason's direction. At Jason's confused and embarrassed look, he laughed again. "Don't worry my friend, your secret is safe with me." He gave a wink.
"So what is it that brings you to the Consecration Hall today my friend?" Grey kept walking, waiting for Jason's reply.
Jason:
The Councilor did seem flustered today, jumping between topics before Jason had the chance to answer. "Oh well, nothing much interesting happening to share anyways about the raids," he thought in his head, "they're still going on and people are still dying."
Jason listened as Grey talked about his students and about how Jason himself had once been one. A naughty one at that, but neither the less, trained and disciplined. The Councilor laughed and Jason joined him, feeling a little more comfortable around his old teacher then he used to. Jason was older now, and wiser, and he felt it in his heart and his mind.
Jason's attention turned to his Familiar for a moment, and he saw that his Vakati'duulo was busy talking away with Nashiro about the raids in the north east quadrant, and how the Guard just managed to hold it off against the barbarian raiders. Jason smiled at their accomplishment and turned back to Grey, who was looking at him expectantly.
"We actually came to see you and Nashiro, just to talk and get your opinion on something rather important." He hesitated for a moment. "It involves the training that you have asked me to put my men through..." Grey knew as well as Jason that the term "you" meant the High Council itself, but he didn't specify. Jason waited for Grey to look away before he said any more.
Grey:
Grey looked away as if to stare off into another place.
"The raids have gotten a lot worse, as your well aware, Jason," Grey answered, half in thought, "these are good men, strong and intelligent men who could be out farming land for their families or doing collection or anything like that." Grey frowned at the thought. He had once been a strong intelligent man too, and he hadn't had those opportunities. How Grey longed for freedom, no one in the Alliance could imagine. "And the Council, me included, does not want to see them die needlessly." He gave Jason a soft but concluding look.
"Vakati'duulo, I hope you've been keeping my young student here out of trouble." He turned to look back at the large dragon, who gave a short bow of the head and replied: "But of course Councilor."
Grey gave a good laugh, a full chested bellow, echoing if only a little throughout the Hall. "Of course you have my friend, of course."
Nashiro moved up beside his master and walked in pace.
"Was there something else you wanted to ask Jason?"
